Why is a plant-based approach to skincare preferred?

Our skin is the largest organ of our body and is tasked with elimination. Whilst it may be subjective, some of the toxins in self-care products such as parabens and heavy metals can be absorbed into our bloodstream through the skin. Moreover, potentially harmful ingredients can also enter our bodies via the mouth when applying skincare. To say I’m becoming somewhat of a skincare cynic may be a bit strong, however, my skincare habits have most certainly evolved across the years. I’ve become much more conscious of ingredients, their role within a product and how certain chemicals in skincare can actually have a negative impact, as opposed to a positive effect on our skin.

Application is smooth and light, yet creamy, with an almost serum-like consistency enabling you to really work it into the skin before being fully absorbed. Remember to exfoliate your skin at least once a week to promote better products absorption.

We recognise that parched skin will do nothing for our complexion, but what’s the solution? Hyaluronic acid, of course. This mighty ingredient can hold up to one-thousand times its weight in water, unrivalled at attracting and binding moisture to our skin cells.

Whilst Atlantis Skincare Glowing Skin Day Cream is infused with youth-boosting hyaluronic acid, it doesn’t, however, contain water – its waterless skincare, but, what does this mean? You’ll notice that a large majority of skincare brands list water as the main ingredient, this is to facilitate the emulsification of certain ingredients, in other words – it allows ingredients that would ordinarily repel each other to mix, (such as oil and water) Often, these ingredients i.e. synthetic preservatives, phthalates, heavy metals and parabens are potentially harmful to not only our skin but our body too. By leaving out water, harmful ingredients can be left out too. It’s that simple – but of course, there is a science behind it.

What result can we expect to find from Atlantis Glowing Skin Day Cream?

Hydration was at the top of my list and I wanted to see my skin smoothed, plumped and a visible reduction of fine lines. I’m realistic, and whilst I realise the miracle, youth renewing cream doesn’t exist, Glowing Skin Day Cream held its own. Lasting well over the four-week period in which I’ve been trying it, I certainly haven’t been disappointed in any way.

*Overall, subtle changes have been noticeable, I found increased hydration and some minimal plumping of fine lines, particularly around the mouth area where repetitive movement lines begin to form.
