As summer is in full swing and with my holiday in the sun less than three weeks away it’s now time to start panic buying swimwear.
I have around a dozen bikinis in my arsenal already of course but I’m always tempted to buy a new one or two each year. Yes those itsy bitsy items which I wear for up to 2 weeks out of 52. Usually, take around a dozen on holiday but stick to my two favourites.
Swimwear styles come and go and some have been around forever, from the tiniest micro possible to a bit more coverage high waist style, triangle top, bandeau or underwired. Frills, no frills. The list is endless.
When it comes to bikinis, I prefer to buy them as ‘separates’ as I am small framed, but blessed with fairly big boobs.
This means I need to mix and match the top and bottom. I imagine this is a universal problem for the majority, whichever way around. If you’re a size 6 like me, it’s assumed you have the chest of a nine-year-old. Not always so.
Last summer I wore a one-piece pool-side literally the whole holiday, there wasn’t much to it, blue in colour with cut-away front and halter neck. This summer I find myself still lusting after a swimsuit as opposed to a bikini. Or perhaps I could have both!
I thought I would put together my Top Ten Swimwear Picks and since this is an ‘edit’ type post I’ll stop waffling now and get straight to it. To see more styles, use the navigation arrow to the right.

Perfect post lovely! I wish all bikinis were separates, I know they do it more often nowadays but when you see a bikini set you think nooo I need two separate ones! Some are so beautiful though, I can never pick a style! I am larger on top so halterneck ones and bra-style ones are best for me as they have good support – I am so fussy about tan lines too! xxx

Thank you for reading! Yes it’s annoying isn’t it, I was kind of thinking I would go for an underwired bra-style bikini this year for the support but as you say, it’s so hard to pick one! I also like the wrap around style but the tan lines! ?xxx
Great post as always. I’m an odd shape so hate 2 piece ‘pairs’ but I did find a really nice separates one from Mataray a couple of years ago before I went to Florida that was lovely. My hips are big but I’m an awkward bra size so having a standard 10 just doesn’t work for me and getting my bra size in a nice bikini doesn’t happen often either but Mantaray fitted nice! ?? I actually hate bikini shopping ??? xx

I agree, separates are better 🙂 I haven’t heard of Mataray but will have a look at that. I have so many bikinis, I really don’t need anymore but you know what it’s like! I’ll buy more but still keep the old ones and end up with too many. I’ll pass them on to Lily when she’s old enough to wear them. She’s only 12 but already has 34d! The rest of her is slim. We got measured recently which she found extremely cringy! ? I might go for a bra-style bikini I think. ☺️ ? Thanks for stopping by lovely. I’m up extra late as usual! ?
Mantaray sell in Debenhams (or did) im assuming they still do!! Decent size range in there and nice styles for fuller bust. Mine was halter neck but felt like I had bra support which is good (plus a bit of a lift is always handy ?)
(I was determined to go to bed but stayed up watching tv and prepping Instagram pics!) ??? xx

Ooh I didn’t know that! There’s a Debs nearby so I will have a look. Yes a bit of lift is always good! I meant to go to bed too but I’ve been updating and tweaking this and that on my site for hours! Xx
Such a great idea for a post! I think swimwear shopping can be so hard, I always find it has to fit just right and look just how I want it otherwise I will feel so uncomfortable wearing it especially if it’s a bikini. The sizes are sometimes so strange when they come as a set as well! I love your picks though they’re all so pretty, I wish I was going on holiday somewhere sunny so I had a reason to be a couple!

I know what you mean, it’s never easy and some are a strange fit, the top half is usually more of an issue. I like tie side bottoms as you can adjust the fit plus more flattering I think. Aw thanks for reading lovely. Really appreciate you stopping by xx
