I’m pretty sure you’ll have heard of Noughty Haircare on your travels…
Just in case you haven’t… Multi-award-winning is a British brand that was launched in September 2016 by co-founders Lorna Mitchell and Rachel Parsonage. Having grown up together the two realised from a young age that good hair and skin can make or break how you feel. Carving out successful careers within the beauty industry, Lorna And Rachel reconnected with their vision of creating a range of affordable, natural products. After many years in the making and with the help of beauty botanist Jennifer Hirsch, Noughty Haircare was born.
“Everyone has the right to good hair”.
Whimsical names, cute, colour clash branding and of course, Noughty’s natural and sustainability promise It’s no wonder the brand is ever-growing. The latest launch is for banishing unruly and undefined hair. Get that “straight off the beach” look when used on freshly washed hair, layer under your favourite styler to prepare, define and optimise curls, or wear alone to create a natural wave. You can also use it between washes to reshape, reinvigorate and add bounce to lifeless waves.
Noughty is all about “self-confidence and as a brand, it advocates self-acceptance, self-development and self-love but never takes itself too seriously.
Curl optimizing QuinOxy, blended with sea kelp extract and shea butter, defines and adds hold to curls. Prepare to be the subject of serious curl envy.
All products are 97% natural and formulated without the use of parabens, silicones, petrochemicals and sulphates. Despite being natural, Noughty says “it will never sacrifice performance, authenticity, experience or innovation”.
Why 3% synthetic? Noughty made the decision to include stabilisers ensuring stability and performance remain true. Preservatives so that the product stays fresh for the duration. And finally, fragrance; natural fragrance is known to cause sensitivity for some people so keeping a balance means allergic reactions are minimal. For more facts and information regarding Ingredients visit Noughty and read about its 3% synthetic stance.
If you’re familiar with natural beauty and care products you’ll know that once opened, they lose efficacy fairly quickly. Often, before you’ve reached the end of the tube, or pot that “off product” smell can be detected. Not with Noughty, rest assured your product of choice will serve you well… Until the end!
It’s never easy keeping curls or waves defined and looking fresh…
My hair is very long and pretty much layer free which means curls fall out quite quickly with the weight dragging them down. Day-to-day my preference is mostly soft waves, so I was keen as mustard to try Hello Curls and see the difference using a hair primer would make. I’m not someone who air dries my hair as I prefer the look of purposefully styled hair so I dusted off my diffuser and after liberally applying the product and combing it through, I gently diffused my hair.
Let me tell you… Hello Curls smells gorgeous.
I wasn’t sure what to expect, but admittedly, I was pleasantly surprised at how my hair felt light and fresh with no stickiness whatsoever, particularly as I hadn’t been sparing with it. I don’t have any natural curl to my hair, rather a slight kink if you will, so my result was never going to be a mass of defined curls. However, the primer is a really good all-around multitasker so for beach waves and that undone look, I felt it performed well for me. I found scrunching a little more product into my hair once dry worked to encourage curls so that’s worth bearing in mind.
As a product that claims to de-volumise hair, helping the curls to lie more compatibly and in a disciplined way, I actually achieved plenty of volume which lasted a couple of days, (possibly encouraged by using a diffuser).
Hello Curls sits in the Noughty Wave Hello range and boasts moisture-boosting naturals hydrating, smoothing, moisture-restoring marine extracts including sea kelp, along with plenty of barrier-enhancing, shine-inducing plant oils.
Cruelty-free vegan-friendly and no use of any animal derivatives.
If you have shorter hair; layers, natural curls or corkscrews you will, of course, find an individual result and perhaps a little more definition to your curls than I was able to achieve.
Have you tried anything from the Noughty Haircare range? I’d love to know your favourites! Last year I tried the Blondie Locks range and reviewed the shampoo and conditioner. If you’re a blonde and want to keep your colour fresh and bright do have a read.

You look amazing and your hair looks absolutely gorgeous! I’ve never heard of this brand or product before but I’m very intrigued by it. I have similar hair to you in the sense that is all one length and doesn’t have a lot of layers, so having a product like this what can help hold the curls is definitely useful x

Ah, thank you, Lauren, kind of you to say that. For my hair, I achieved more waves than curls but that’s mainly the length. Like yours, no doubt it would work the same for you! x
This sounds perfect for me! I have naturally curly/ wavy hair and it looks pretty good when it air dries, but it’s prone to frizz and the curls get a bit wild sometimes between washes so a product like this that helps keep them defined sounds like something I need. I’m quite lazy with my hair so I like that there’s nothing too complicated here x

Your hair always looks so gorgeous, Samantha! I’ve never heard of Noughty Haircare before, but they sound like a fabulous natural brand and I love what they stand for. It’s great that it leaves your hair light and fresh and so stylish too! It sounds like such a simple product to use and gives amazing results.
