If you’re anything like me and always on the lookout for a beauty bargain, QVC’s TSV (Today’s Special Value) is the best place to look! Did you know many big-name beauty and makeup brands are featured at a fraction of their usual cost? Don’t just take my word for it, tune in to QVC’s live shows, or download the app and start saving on your favourite brands.

SBC (Simply Beautiful Cosmetics) is one of those well-known brands regularly featured on QVC with its renowned body and skincare gels. However, this is the first “Propolis TSV” from SBC so it’s a little bit special.

What exactly is Propolis?

Also known as “bee glue”, propolis is essentially a complex mixture of saliva, beeswax, leaf bud resin, tree sap and other botanicals. A substance produced by bees for the specific purpose of keeping the hive safe where it’s used to fill small crevices and varnish the honeycomb. Antimicrobial properties found in propolis inhibit fungal and bacterial growth preventing disease and bacteria damaging the hive (and its residents). It’s important to mention that no bees are harmed in the process as propolis can be safely removed from the hive along with royal jelly and honey.

I have my own personal fascination with honey bees, as we have a hive in our roof space that has been with us for a few years now. Each summer I can be found reviving fallen workers with sugared water as they spill out of the hive and onto our patio. Fortunately, last summer they moved a little further back along our roof which made dining al fresco less frustrating – a bee or two tumbling into your salad is never welcomed.

Interestingly, propolis translates to “defender of the city” in Greek

Naturally rich in antioxidant properties, amino acids, vitamins, minerals and bio-flavonoids it stands to reason why this interesting concoction is the perfect skincare ingredient. Use it to soothe, strengthen and repair fragile or inflamed skin.

 Propolis Skincare Gel 1 litre

SBC skincare gels are lightweight, water-based, easily absorbed and suitable for the whole body including the face. Perfect for everyone including those with sensitive skin types, young and old alike. If you’re not familiar with propolis, the scent is an intense mix of Manuka honey, Ancient cypress, sweet basil and neroli flower. Blended beautifully with woody base notes of frankincense, patchouli, cedarwood, vanilla and amber for a truly unique fragrance.

Skincare gels differ from creams and are cooling and are so soothing to use. Plus, the water-based formula ensures there’s no stickiness once absorbed.

Propolis Scalp Care Shampoo 500ml

Scalp Care shampoo is predominately for those with an itchy, flakey scalp, but personally, I use it daily for maintenance. Infused with white nettle, ginger, pro-vitamin B5 and honey for nourished, hydrated hair and scalp so expect volume and movement. Formulated to be free from SLS (sodium Laureth sulphate) and silicones, SBC’s propolis infused haircare helps to balance and control excess sebum secretions from the scalp.

“I was really pleased to find a large sized Scalp Care shampoo in this TSV as I’ve tried it before and absolutely loved it”.

 Propolis Hair Care Conditioner 500ml

Packed with propolis goodness, honey, royal jelly, pro-vitamin B5, argan oil and vitamin E, it’s rich in antioxidants and bioflavonoids ensuring your scalp and hair remain in optimal condition. Honey and Almond Bath & Shower Créam 1 litre

Honey & Almond Bath & Shower Créme is described as an addictive warmth of milk, peach and sweet almond with notes of caramel and coconut and wood, musk, amber and vanilla.

First and foremost, it smells divine and really does meet with its description, almost caramel cream-like, but with a warmth and sweetness at the same time. It’s pH-balanced to protect and retain the skin’s natural barrier and feels comforting. I use it with my body puff and there’s plenty of lather for clean, nourished skin along with a gorgeous lingering scent for the day.

Propolis & Safflower Hand & Foot Cream 100ml

Last but by no means least, an exciting new launch and brand new SBC product, Propolis & Safflower Hand & Foot Cream. Rich in safflower oil and vitamin E to nourish and protect the skin whilst shea butter and glycerin condition not only the skin but also wayward cuticles too. Mine literally have a life of their own and need constant attention to keep them looking neat and tidy so massaging in this nourishing cream really helps.

I must admit, on first use I may have used a little too much and had to really work the cream into my skin… Lesson learnt. With such a rich consistency you only need a small amount for the same result. My hands are so sensitive to the elements and after a day out and about they can actually feel quite sore by the evening. Just a small amount of cream soothes my hands and relieves any tightness. The scent is predominantly honey but has a warmth making it really enjoyable to use.

SBC recommend regular use for super soft hands and feet. Get those feet ready and presentable as sandal season is fast approaching.

If you suffer from dry, dehydrated or inflamed skin then this TSV ultimate propolis collection will suit you perfectly.

Remember, this ultimate propolis collection will only be available for 24 hours only February 21st 2019 (whilst stocks last), so make sure you don’t miss out. (ended).

A reminder of what’s included:

1-litre Propolis Skincare Gel

1 litre Honey & Almond Bath & Shower Créme

500 ml Scalp Care Shampoo
