Multi-award-winning Dr. Lipp is the brand that created the iconic Nipple Balm.

Dr. Lipp Miracle Balm – a  little TKMaxx gem. I go through lip balms like they’re going out of fashion and since this one is such a cutie I couldn’t resist! At a paltry £3.99 (TKMaxx price) it’s worth its weight in gold. Admittedly, I didn’t know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised at how emollient the formula is –  It’s thick, which requires you to give the tube a really good squeeze!

Whilst my baby nursing days are behind me and the need for a nipple balm is no longer a requirement, one product I always have to hand is a lip balm. I’ve usually got several dotted about in various pockets and handbags and generally in the form of a twist-up stick. However, you know what it’s like, you can never seem to find one when you need it! If I don’t protect my lips, a mere whisper of air can wreak havoc.

In the words of founder Pontine “If we’re licking our lips for most of the day, shouldn’t we pay attention to what’s inside our lip products?”

Dr. Lipp Miracle Balm is the sister of the renowned Nipple Balm from this brand and is a fabulous little multi-tasker to throw in your handbag. Suitable for nursing mothers along with all the usual uses you might expect from a balm product. With over 110,000 positive reviews Dr. Lipp balms are 100% natural, cruelty-free and highly recommended by me (and 110,000) others. Have a browse of the cutesy Dr. Lipp website and find something from the multi-award-winning product range you’ll love!

47 Skin Silver Chitosan Regenerative Serum.

Particularly through the colder months, my skin is prone to little inflamed/dry areas so this serum has quickly become my go-to. I use it to heal up any blemishes, or troublesome areas and I’ve found really good results. Silver, known for its healing properties can often be found in anything from blister plasters to facial products such as this one. All 47 SKIN’s serums are infused with its patented Formula 47 containing silver and chitosan. The formulation works by utilising the silver to form a protective and hydrating seal on the skin whilst the chitosan forms a lattice-like structure on which the cells can repair.

With its fresh, almost citrusy scent and light, breathable formula the serum can be applied over the entire face, or used topically to target specific areas of concern. Formulated to aid cell regeneration and designed to soften the appearance of fine lines and ageing.

47 SKIN Silver Chitosan Serum comes with a handy drawstring, pouch bag which is perfect for both protecting the bottle whilst travelling and also keeping light away from the product. At £29 for a 30 ml bottle, you may feel it is a considered purchase but you’ll only need a tiny amount, particularly using it topically. Its fluidity allows for good spreadability and a little goes a long way.

“This serum is an interesting product and the first of its kind I’ve tried. I’ve used it to target inflamed areas and also as an all-over bedtime treatment”.

January skin? Heal, protect and cleanse

Pink & Green Organics handcare duo.

This was a lucky win for me on Instagram and since Pink & Green Organics is a brand I’m already familiar with, I thought I’d share a few lines on this lovely hand wash and lotion duo.

Like any family, we go through lots of handwashes and whilst I’m particular about what we put on our skin, I’m as guilty as the next of making an impulsive Carex Strawberry Laces or Love Hearts purchase and plonking it in the downstairs loo. My preference is, of course, natural and cruelty-free so I was over the moon with my win.

Cold Weather Skincare Favourites

Handmade in Wiltshire UK, Pink & Green Organics describe its Mandarin & Grapefruit Hand & Body Wash as a consistent lather and gentle foam giving a luxurious feel. Soft, rich and creamy. A description I would agree with, however, I’ve not used this product as a body wash so I’m unable to comment on that. I’ve continued to use it solely as a naturally gorgeous and uplifting handwash. This duo would make a lovely gift for those green beauty enthusiasts in your life. £16 for a 250ml bottle.

I also have the “Sunshine For Your Hands” Hand Lotion. This comes with a press-pump dispenser for convenience and is housed in a cobalt blue bottle.

Described as a luxurious organic lotion. Fragranced with the warm, smoky scent of frankincense, and a floral, woody undertone of Lavender and the succulent, soft, sweet fruitiness of fresh oranges. Enriched with skin conditioning oils of shea butter, avocado oil and sunflower oil. Our “Sunshine for Your Hands”  Lotion is a lightweight moisturiser to keep skin and nails protected and enriched.

My skin seems to be very sensitive to the change in elements with my hands becoming chapped and sore quite easily at this time of year.

I hate the feeling of dry, tight skin on my hands so I’m always reaching for a good cream or lotion and apply a good layer if I’m heading out in the cold. Prevention is always better than cure, I find. This one comes in at £14.95 for a 100ml bottle.

Another plus – Pink & Green Organics Formulate their products without the use of Sodium Lauryl Sulphate or Sodium Laureth Sulphate (SLS / SLES) favouring oxygenated Aloe Vera instead. This is much more my thing as I definitely lean towards an ethical, natural approach to my skincare and beauty needs. The lotion scent is a little more “botanical” than the handwash.

I’ve not tried any of these products but they all sound absolutely amazing- I love a good TK Maxx find, they have some gems don’t they? You can never have too many lip balms. I love serums so will definitely be keeping this one in mind next time I’m in need – the fresh scent sounds delightful too!
