The Natural Beauty Box. First Impressions

The Natural Beauty Box. First Impressions

If you’re looking to subscribe to a monthly beauty box, it can be a little overwhelming, with so many to choose from…

The Natural Beauty Box Features the best of British, award-winning natural skincare brands; along with up and coming, eco-luxe artisans. Included each month are five or six eco-friendly, 100% cruelty-free products (full, and travel sized), with carefully coordinated packaging to match the month’s theme.

Box value will always be over £50

Being honest, even as a die-hard product junkie, subscribing to a monthly beauty box isn’t something I do. However, I’ve previously subscribed to a well-known box and found that one or two products were going by the wayside each month and it wasn’t really working for me.

Personally, I wouldn’t choose cruelty brands or products with harsh ingredients so naturally, my box of choice would be a green, ethical box such as this. You can be sure that all the products will be earth-friendly and naturally gorgeous. Green beauty is something I became interested in back along as I started leaning towards a more ethical approach to beauty and I’ve not looked back.

Subscribing to a Monthly Beauty Box is a great way to discover brands which we may not have otherwise stumbled upon.

Included in November’s “Winter Skin Saviours” box are brands which are all new to me, so let’s see what we have!

Guiltless Skin Illume Moisture Serum £26

Lightweight and fragrance-free, Illume Moisture Serum protects and strengthens the skinʼs barrier, prevents moisture loss and reduces the appearance of fine lines. The result is improved luminosity and skin texture.

Guiltless Skin is developed and manufactured in the UK and focusses on high-performance, biodegradable ingredients which support and benefit the skin’s natural processes.

Apply Illume Moisture Serum to clean, dry skin and follow with your usual moisturiser and/or face oil.

A gorgeous, colourless serum which comes boxed and feels luxe. It’s perfect for layering to give your skin an extra boost of hydration. I found Illume serum has good spreadability and absorbs well, leaving my skin smooth and soft.

Okko Skincare Mini Balm Duo £3 Each

OKKO Skincare says its ambition is to make people feel comfortable in their skin. No nasty stuff! Our oils are authentic, real, and our everyday ingredients are reassuringly simple.

Ingredients include organic rosehip and jojoba oils, aloe butter, organic cocoa butter, organic chia seed oil, and organic calendula oil, to name but a few.

Solid, deeply moisturising sticks but without the spills. Meeting your busy, everyday needs; you can throw it in your bag and use it as needed.

‘OKKO say “We love our planet, and we care about our future and our children’s futures”.

Utilising the latest innovation in eco-packaging technology, OKKO has developed a product that is 100% natural and 100% environmentally friendly.

When I first saw the Body Balms, I immediately thought they were lip products but these are unusual and a little different from the average. I’ve kept the Body Balm in my handbag, it’s so handy for using around my cuticles and any other little areas which need a bit of TLC on the go. These really are such a neat idea, I imagine the foot balm would be perfect for keeping with you during sandal season for a quick application to the moisturise dry heels!

Niskama skincare Gentle, Smoothing Face Polish £7

Relax and enjoy the calming chamomile and peppermint oil aroma. Massage a little of the Niskama Scrub into damp skin with gentle, circular movements for around one minute. If you prefer a milkier consistency, add a little more water and continue massaging. Remove with a warm muslin or washcloth.

More often than not, a physical exfoliator is too harsh for my skin and I tend to favour an enzyme peel instead. However, this is a dense scrub with a fine texture and feels gentle on the skin. It has a lovely peppermint scent and is locally made, just over an hour from where I live which is lovely!

Oooh I love the idea of this box and that everything is vegan and eco-friendly! I have the exact same issue with beauty boxes in that there are always a couple of products that I don’t end up ever using, which is why I stopped subscribing too. I’ll definitely be looking into The Natural Beauty Box though, especially as they offer a one off box- what great value!

Thank you Sophie! It’s annoying isn’t it, all those wasted products. I realised I could spend the money on products I was actually going to use instead and so like you, I unsubscribed. Since I’ve discovered a love for ethical beauty I’m much more likely to use all the products in natural beauty boxes as they are far more appealing to me!x

I’ve never heard of this brand before but I absolutely love the idea behind this! I’ve subscribed to beauty boxes in the past and found either products get repeated or I just don’t use everything so I’ve not had any for a while. I love that this offers a one off box though so you can get an idea of if it’s for you or not, or if you just don’t want to fully commit to a new one each month. Lovely review xxx

I like the idea of a one-off box too. It’d be a great gift idea I thought! I don’t think you can go wrong with a natural beauty box, there’s definitely less chance of not liking some of the products! x

It really is a lovely box. Is there nothing similar at all in Canada? x

I agree, it’s a fab idea. I’d be much more inclined to choose this box than a more generic beauty box. At least you know you’re not getting any nasty ingredients! x

The main thing that put me off subscription boxes was having products wasted. This one looks fab though, also opens your eyes to the options out there for natural, vegan friendly, cruelty free products.

    Much love

That’s the exact problem I was having and it’s so wasteful. Back along I wasn’t so aware of the different box options out there, but I’ve tried a few natural versions now and I’m definitely a convert x

This sounds like a wonderful subscription box, especially as everything is eco-friendly and vegan! The mini bath salts look so pretty and sound so good for you, I always love having baths and this sounds like the perfect way to relax. The face polish sounds so soothing and refreshing, especially with a lovely peppermint scent. Thank you for sharing Samantha and gorgeous photos as always! <3 xx

It is a lovely box, especially if you like natural products. The bath salts are a little different! x

  8. December 8, 2018 / 10:05 pm

I’ve signed up to so many of the subscription boxes … and then cancelled them. I love the idea of getting all the little sample bottles. I can try them, decide whether I hate or rate them, and not have to waste £ on a full-price product. Unfortunately, I found myself getting a whole bunch of stuff that I’d give to Mama and very little that I’d actually use myself.

Definitely checking this one out — great blog post + pics, as always 🙂

It’s such a thing with these sub’ boxes, I agree. The mixture of products isn’t going going to suit us all and feels disappointing. I’ve tried a few natural, ethical box’s and find the products much more my thing, and really good value. I’d say my least favourite is always going to be bath salts but only because I’m a shower person! My daughter loves a bath so they always get used! x
