When I look back at how my taste has altered since I began blogging, literally everything has changed and I’ve become so much more “wanty”. I wouldn’t say I’m materialistic as such, but I do like nice “things”, and I like to dress well – (when finances permit). We are only here once, so why not enjoy it? More and more I’m leaning towards less clutter, lighter, brighter minimalistic living and generally, my style is evolving from shabby chic to well, less shabby and more chic.
No Longer A “Faux” pas
Pre-blog, I wouldn’t have entertained faux flowers around my home but fast forward and I’m now in love with vases of faux hydrangea and pots of foliage/succulents and orchids, I can’t get enough. Lat year my mother-in-law bought me a beautiful large orchid for my birthday but somehow I managed to kill it off through the winter months, keeping house plants alive isn’t something which comes naturally to me.
Homesense is my favourite haunt for all kinds of gorgeous ‘faux-ness”. Recently, I’ve taken to adding faux foliage (or even some real sprigs clipped from the garden) to my hydrangea arrangements instead of just having three mop heads in a pot, I’ll add in some greenery to break it up. I started with white flowers only but now I find myself choosing blues and burgundies. Faux flowers have become big business nowadays and are the perfect choice for those of us who can’t deal with real house plants. I’m fussy though – they have to look the part.
“We Are Influenced By What We See Everyday In The Blogosphere”
It’s so true we can be influenced by the images we see every day. There seems to be certain trends among us, rose gold, white furniture, prints and for some – marble. My love for marble fizzled out mid-2017, but I recently purchased a marble candle with rose gold base, it’s subtle, and pale which I prefer so I couldn’t resist it. However, marble it’s still going strong as a blogger cliché.
“I want that Instagrammable Bedroom”
I want pristine white bedding with blush or grey accents, an oversized headboard and a luxurious blanket across the foot, I want light or white furniture, mirrors galore, typography and simple chic prints. My favourites are Desenio and Etsy for beautiful, tasteful designs. These have all been added to my wish list.
“I Want Blogger Nails”
I deserve them, don’t I? Mainly born out of frustration – I’ll prepare to take a shot which has my hand/s in focus and my nails are either bare, the polish is chipped or the colour doesn’t work for my shot. If I get my nails manicured properly and UV cured they should stay perfect for at least two weeks. After that, I’ll get them done again , and again – problem solved.
“I want pretty candles in glass jars – with lids”
Pretty candles, what’s not to love? I would never actually burn these fragrant ornamental candles as I’m conscious of the toxins and artificial fragrances they puff out however, I love the look of them and again, they seem to have suddenly become more popular than ever. Homesense and Tk Maxx are of course the place to go for pretty or jarred candles.
And that’s just the tip of the ice berg. How about you? has blogging altered your landscape or made you more “wanty”? I’d love to know what you think!
