Mini Handbags – My New Obsession

When it comes to handbags, size matters…

Gone are the days of “bigger is better” – mini handbags are en vogue right now and I’m obsessed. Currently resisting the temptation to buy another piece of arm candy, I may just hold off and treat myself to a new one for Spring. If you’re anything like me, forever having to re-adjust a slipping shoulder strap, or knocking people over with an over-sized bag, you might benefit from down-sizing. That said, large bags will always have their place for those days when you need to carry more “stuff”. My large bag is a Louis Vuitton Iéna and countless times it’s been knocked into, pushed past, or bashed by someone else’s shopping trolley… I mean, do you even know how much this thing cost?! Sound familiar?

Hello, the mini handbag. I’ve finally come to realise, it’s rather pointless carrying a huge bag with three or four items rattling around inside.

Another plus – If my phone rings, I can find it straight away without having to rummage through the black hole that seems to come as standard with a larger bag. Being bale to quickly “find” things in my bag is so refreshing – that’s a good enough reason in itself!

Whether you choose to hold the handle or wear it cross-body, a mini handbag is chic and stylish and often a little quirky. There’s one for every occasion If you shop around. You can pick up a high street gem of a bag which looks a lot more expensive than it actually is. My coloured mini Theresa bag is from New Look and cost less than £10 on sale.

I’ve put together some of my other favourites, there’s something to suit everyone’s pocket so let’s start with the affordable –  as you can see, I’m unashamedly drawn to the colour palette – nude/blush/grey and of course a trusty black bag.

Starting With The Affordable…

Why have just the one? Affordable means you can have as many as you want. What’s stopping you?

Shop “The Affordable”

Moving On To The Less Affordable…

We all love the idea of splurging on a gorgeous handbag, don’t We? A statement accessory which will turn heads on the high street. My favourite here is the Burberry, I love the chunky grab handle.

Shop The “Less Affordable”

Then There’s The Dream-Worthy Collection…

If you happen to have that £35,140 knocking around since you decided against that brand new Audi, why not treat yourself to the sublime Hermès mini “Kelly” instead. it’s undeniably fabulous and for the price it jolly well it ought to take you somewhere the Audi never could.

Shop “A Girl Can Dream”

Can’t Deal With Leather?

For those who aren’t comfortable using leather goods, I’ve picked out some alternatives you might like. These are equally  gorgeous and in fact, I have two Vegan-friendly bags myself by Matt and Nat. The quality is fantastic and the bags are made from 100% recycled materials, it’s not obvious they are faux leather so unless you’re an expert, you may not notice the difference. I’ve featured two Matt and Nat bags below, see what you think!

Love the idea of mini bags! I usually carry smaller sized bags too which fit everything I need in but Iā€™ve just bought a new bag and I swear it fell off my shoulder 5 times today when I was shopping ? Lovely post as always ?

My LV slips off my shoulder a lot too, the straps are quite thin which doesnā€™t help. I much prefer to have the freedom of a small cross body bag when Iā€™m shopping! Thanks for reading x

Iā€™ve always preferred smaller handbags to larger ones. Like you said theyā€™re so much easier when you need to find something and it saves you carrying round things you donā€™t need as you only have room for the essientials! Also they look super cute, obvs.

I always like cross-body small bags. Enough for my phone, wallet, a mirror and one lipstick. Free my hands too. Nice post! xx

Iā€™m always carrying a large bag around as Iā€™m a uni student so Iā€™m always carrying so much. I do love a small handbag though but those affordable prices are still not affordable for me haha.

I’ve always been a massive fan of having a large bag with me as I just love being prepared and having everything in my bag, I also need it for work to put my work stuff in, but last year I bought myself a smaller cross body bag and I use it all the time! It’s so great for evenings out or daytime if I don’t need as much stuff! Clare xx | https://www.clayaa.com

I actually have more large bags than small but Iā€™ve been converted! I know what you mean though, thereā€™s always a need for a big bag, or two x

Another fabulous post!! I love a mini handbag! I opted to get a mini Mulberry instead of a big one and got a Gucci next on my list! Loved your choices too – my kind of colours! X
