Speed Up Your Blowdry With Redken Diamond Oil Glow Dry

Redken glow dry Shampoo. Speed up your blowdry

Redken has been spoiling me recently with some of their haircare ranges. Not only have I been sent the new Glow Dry product range to try –  I also very kindly received some blonde-specific products to help fix a summer holiday hair disaster. Those Blonde Idol products are a hard act to follow as I had absolutely wonderful results. Read my Blonde Idol review.

Today, I’m sharing something a little different – I’ve been trying the new Dimond Oil Glow Dry range which launched in August of this year. These products are designed to prepare the hair for blowdrying, speeding up the process and giving you bouncy, shiny “just stepped out of the salon” hair.

I’m all about healthy looking hair, and always on the look-out for hair saving-products to try. I tend to choose salon brands where possible, but since this can become a little expensive – I top-up with drugstore in-between. Although my hair is long, I still crave that all-important swish. I want plenty of movement and as much shine as is possible, (even for a non-light-reflecting blonde like myself).

To begin the Glow Dry experience, use the Gloss Scrub as the first step, then follow with the shampoo and conditioner. These three steps are said to prepare the hair and speed up your blow dry. With this being the unique selling point of this range – read on to find out how it faired.

Glow Dry Gloss Scrub

Redken claims their Diamond Oil scrub gently buffs away impurities from your hair strands prior to shampooing with Glow Dry Pre-Shampoo Gloss Hair Scrub. Why should you be exfoliating your hair? For the same reasons you exfoliate your skin, to remove build-up and prepare for maximum hair shine after your blow dry.

  • The first step to a perfect, shiny blow-dry
  • Moisturizing oil-enhanced formula exfoliates with argan shells to gently remove impurities and enhance hair shine
  • Safe for colour-treated hair—will not remove any pigment.

I have to admit, exfoliating my hair isn’t something I’ve ever really considered, or deemed necessary, until now. I’ve been using Diamond Oil Glow Dry Gloss Scrub for several weeks, enabling me to give my honest review.

When it comes to exfoliation, we should already know the importance of its inclusion in our skincare regime, it’s one of my favourite treatments to do. I regularly exfoliate my face and body, but I hadn’t thought of my hair! I can now include my hair using Gloss Scrub and buff away those unwanted impurities. I Love the concept, and I couldn’t wait to try it.

With my hair being quite troublesome, I generally choose specifically targeted products for my hair concerns. Glow Dry is more of a general product which would suit most hair types, including coloured hair. To use, I rinsed my hair and as per direction, applied the scrub to my wet, pre-shampooed hair.

I massaged the scrub well in for a minute or two, rinsed, then followed with Glow Dry shampoo and conditioner. In honesty, I can’t report any real difference after the first two to three uses but, after that, I did find my hair start to feel a little smoother than usual. I didn’t find any problem with rinsing the scrub residue from my hair as this was something I thought might struggle with.

Glow Dry Gloss Shampoo

Redken claim: Using this shampoo prepares your hair for a faster, shinier blow out with Diamond Oil Glow Dry Gloss Shampoo for shiny hair. Hair is left nourished and manageable.

  • OIL ENRICHED GEL FORMULA
  • GENTLY CLEANSES AND PROVIDES LIGHTWEIGHT SHINE
  • FORMULATED WITH A BLEND OF AMLA EXTRACT AND CORIANDER SEED OIL

The first thing you’ll notice is that this product is completely clear. This is a little unusual but gives the range an edge and something of a different look. I found the shampoo has a subtle rose scent which is I liked. Intrigued, I had a look at the ingredient list but I was unable to find anything which referred to the actual fragrance other than parfum. However, the fragrance fits well with the pretty, rose-coloured packaging. The shampoo lathers well which is something I prefer and rinsed with ease, leaving my hair really clean and fresh.

Detangling Conditioner

Redken claim: Detangling conditioner keeps your hair moisturized without weighing down your blow out or dulling your shine

  • LIGHTLY HYDRATES AND CONDITIONS TO LEAVE HAIR FEELING AIRY AND SPARKLING WITH A MULTI-FACETED DIAMOND-LIKE SHINE.
  • DETANGLES AND NOURISHES HAIR FOR A SOFT, SHINY FINISH
  • FORMULATED WITH A BLEND OF AMLA EXTRACT AND CORIANDER SEED Oil

Again, this conditioner is surprisingly clear and has the afore-mentioned subtle rose scent. The consistency is very similar to that of the shampoo and once applied to the hair, I did find a slight lather, which is different. In terms of how well it smoothed and detangled my hair I wasn’t so impressed but, in all fairness, detangling my hair is a tall order.

This is something of a problem for me personally but If your hair is more manageable, you may have excellent results. However, Since this range is all about the blow dry I was keen to see the result. When it came to the finished result, my hair felt quite airy, smooth and shiny. Drying time reduced a little too. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by these products and in particular the scrub. Hair exfoliation is, as I said, a new concept for me but one which will now have its place in my hair care regime.

The hair scrub sounds very unique and like you it’s not something I thought was necessary. It makes sense though, especially to help remove excess build up x
