Clinique Pop Lip Colour And Primer
Oh, the nude lipstick. Bloggers favourite, and my most purchased. I got into wearing nudes quite a while ago when they first hit the streets. I would sit for hours watching Lisa Eldridge on You Tube as She talked about a particular nude lipstick which I just had to have, I dashed out and purchased it the following day based on her recommendation and although I didn’t find the staying power of said lippy as good as I was expecting; I did fall in love with the shade and the Formula. I repurchased but now I’m literally at the end of the bullet so I fancied a change but staying true to the less is more kind of gal that I am. I do love a lippy I can quickly and discreetly re-apply while out and about without the need of a mirror. Hello nudes!
Clinique says: Luxurious yet weightless formula merges bold, saturated colour with a smoothing primer. Glides on effortlessly to give a modern-velvet finish. Colour stays true and keeps lips comfortably moisturised for 8 hours. Allergy Tested. 100% Fragrance Free.
Whilst recently mooching around the beauty counters I made a beeline for Clinique and there I spotted these cute little mini colour pop lipsticks. There are 26 shades to choose from and all oh so gorgeous I would literally take one of each but since I’m more drawn to nude shades after much swatching and deliberating I went for the beige pop shade. At that point, it was a difficult choice between that and the Sweet Pop shade as a little more colour was the other option.
I’m not keen on the thought of a ‘beige’ lippy and the name almost put me off but I swatched it on the back of my hand and the colour I found was more of a neutral pinky nude.
Intrigued by the colour + primer claim, I was eager to give it a try. I found the formula indeed lovely and moisturising, It’s quite a creamy and it did stay on fairly well, my lips felt soft and moisturised whilst it was on. In terms of the primer effect, I didn’t see a huge difference between this and a regular lipstick however, everyone has different lips, some are naturally smoother than others so I think it’s down to the individual to be honest. That said, The formula is lovely and the colour is so wearable for every day. I will definitely repurchase this one and recommend trying this range if you haven’t already.
let’s talk about staying power. whenever a brand claim their product lasts for something silly like twelve hours I always think oh really? perhaps if you sit perfectly still, don’t eat, drink or talk then there’s a possibility but that’s not real life, is it. Some I’ve tried don’t last at all, others have been better but what about this particular one. well, again wearing this lipstick throughout a normal day including talking, eating etc. I wouldn’t say the colour stayed true for eight hours but my lips definitely felt moisturised even after the colour had faded. I’m someone who reapplies my lipstick regularly so with that in mind I am so tempted to buy another little Clinique Pop to add to my hand bag and at £16.50 a pop (see what I did there) it’s a case of when not if. But which shade!?
I adore Clinique as a brand, it’s an old favourite of mine. The products feel so high-end which I love and the pretty feminine packaging gets me every time. I talked about another Clinique product very recently. Read my thoughts on the Clinique Contour Stick
