John Frieda Sheer Blonde Hi-Impact Range

John Frieda High Impact blonde range

I’m always on the lookout for new products to keep my blonde hair looking vibrant, more of that and less brass.

So whilst out and about in search of holiday essentials I came across this new Hi-Impact vibrancy Restoring range for overprocessed blondes by John Frieda. I don’t particularly relish the thought of being an ‘overprocessed blonde’ but I’ll take it as I do have quite extensive highlights which are probably a little overprocessed.

I’ve used other blonde specific products by John Frieda before and I’ve always been impressed, but anything with the word ‘New’ written on it is always an eye-catcher for me so I spotted these straight away. I lingered over the new Millie Mackintosh for John Frieda formula but decided to go with the overprocessed instead as my hair has been playing up in the last couple of weeks and I felt I needed something a bit more nourishing, particularly for my holiday in the sun!

In terms of our water at home, it’s extremely hard as our barn is supplied by a borehole in our grounds, (don’t be alarmed, I don’t have to lower a bucket with a rope attached) it’s basically a natural underground spring which is pumped in and cleaned on its way into our barn, crystal clear with nothing added, literally Evian on tap. Tastes wonderful but the downside is my hair hates it with a passion.

My Hair…

I have very long, highlighted hair so as soon as water hits it, it bunches up and it takes a pretty good conditioner to soften it enough to get a comb through it. Some conditioners I find just don’t make the slightest difference to comb-ability. When I run conditioner through my wet hair I like to feel instantly that it’s smoothing down those roughed-up cuticles and softening my hair to boot. Regarding shampoo I do like a good lather as I just feel it’s getting my hair really clean, with this shampoo I get a good lather and that squeaky clean feeling so on that basis alone I love it.

These products were inexpensive and on offer in Superdrug so I snapped them up for my holiday. I’m a terror with anything new and so, of course, I had to try them out pre-holiday hoping for something amazing!

I’ve used both shampoo and conditioner a few time now and so first impressions only here. As someone who switches between expensive salon branded products and drugstore formulas, I have to say I really like these. Particularly the conditioner. I could definitely feel that all-important instant softening on use. I like to use a good dollop of conditioner and gently comb it through with a scalp comb, this was a much better experience using this conditioner, took half the time and just felt lovely and nourishing on my hair. Both products smell equally gorgeous which always helps too!

After drying my hair it was soft and shiny (well, as shiny as blonde hair can be that is).

In terms of vibrancy, it’s a little early to tell. Plus, I’ve been in and out of the pool so much and we all know how bad chlorine is for our hair, especially us blondes.

While you’re reading this post I’m sunning myself in Spain with both my John Frieda products and myself enjoying the lovely soft water here. What a treat for my hair that is. Oh and the endless sunshine of course!

Thank you! Oh good, it’s definitely worth a try, grab it while it’s on offer! I’m loving both but particularly the conditioner. My hair takes some taming! X

I used to use the John Frieda Go Blonder Shampoo & Conditioner and loved the way they left my color treated blonde and my natural blonde roots, so I’m definitely going to check these ones out. Your hair is so pretty! ☺️
