Palmer’s Olive Oil Formula Hair Care

Palmer’s Olive oil haircare

I’m often torn between splashing out on salon branded haircare or choosing a drug store favourite –  I bet you feel the same?

However, using salon quality products can be expensive, especially for those of us with long hair where we might be inclined to use more than we actually need. That said, I’ve generally got a bottle of cheaper shampoo on the go most of the time.

I’m pretty certain you’ll know of Palmer’s? It’s a well-know brand and one that’s been around for a good while – best known for its iconic Cocoa Butter Body Lotion, you know, the one which smells distinctly chocolatey.

Going back to haircare, I’ve been trying the new range of Olive Oil Formula products including Smoothing Shampoo, Replenishing Conditioner and a Leave-In Conditioning Spray.

There’s always an element of trepidation when using a new product as you never really know if it will work with your hair type. My hair is very long, not many layers and quite heavily highlighted with bleach so it can be on the dry side.

Since my hair could use a boost of moisture this olive oil range is perfect, and suited to dry, unruly and frizz-prone hair. I imagine my hair loosely fits into this category.

Palmer’s say: “Extra virgin Olive oil is a powerful natural ingredient used since ancient times to give hair strength and brilliant shine. This moisturising shampoo smoothes out frizzy hair, replenishes moisture and nutrients. Also removes product build-up. The balanced blend of extra virgin olive oil, hair keratin amino acids and vitamin E cleanses thoroughly and leaves hair softer with a smoother texture, easier to style and healthier and stronger.

Extra virgin olive oil is combined with soybean oil and keratin amino acids to protect hair from environmental aggressors and hot styling tools. Hair becomes shinier with extra bounce, softer, less frizzy and easier to style. Jamaican black castor oil has a strong lipid content which helps relieve dry itchy scalp while protecting hair from styling damage”.

This range is free from Sulphates, parabens, phthalates, mineral oil gluten. Palmers is also a cruelty-free brand.

This olive oil formula was winner of the “Your Hair” awards in 2013.

I always shampoo my hair twice, as I like a good lather. I found it quite a loose consistency but it actually does lather up really well. I followed with a second shampoo-ing and again plenty of lather and no problem with rinsing. I didn’t get that squeaky clean feeling, but, to be honest that’s not often something I experience anyway.

The replenishing conditioner consistency smoothes through the hair and for best results gently comb through with a scalp comb. Leave on whilst you’re get on with washing yourself and then rinse.

Palmer’s Olive Oil haircare review.

I must admit, for the meagre price point I  found this conditioner a very worthy addition to my daily routine.

I finished off with the Leave-In Conditioning Spray which when used sparingly It doesn’t weigh heavily or leave any residue, just expect  swishy, shiny and soft hair.

I’ve continued to use these products every day and still enjoy the same great result.

I wasn’t really aware of Palmer’s hair range until now but as this is a brand I trust I would definitely look to repurchase from this range for my drugstore top up. I Really liked the fresh feel of the products and packaging. I’m using it more liberally now as I know there’s no problem with it feeling heavy on my hair. It’s really lasting so well too.
