Pink Sun Organic Coconut Oil

If you read my blog regularly you will know that I love to use natural oils as part of daily skincare, so today I wanted to share with you Pink Sun Coconut oil and why I love it. Firstly,

Here’s what Pink Sun have to say about their product

I always like to share what the brand has to say about their product so that you can be as well-informed as possible should you wish to go ahead and purchase the product going forward. I love this but don’t just take my word for it!

PINK SUN Certified Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is deliciously light and creamy with the natural aroma and taste of fresh coconuts. It is not hydrogenated, refined, bleached or deodorized. Our raw extra virgin coconut oil is cold pressed at less than 38 degrees so is considered “raw coconut oil” and is suitable for raw food diets.

To produce great tasting raw organic extra virgin coconut oil we start by growing the finest organic coconuts in tropical Sri Lanka. These organic coconuts are harvested at the optimal time when the coconuts are bursting with oil. The organic coconuts are then husked and the raw coconut meat (white inner part) is separated from the hard shell which is recycled as bio-fuel. The raw coconut meat is then carefully dried, cold pressed and filtered to release a rich and light pure extra virgin coconut oil.

The extra virgin coconut oil is then sealed in glass or non leaching HDPE containers to retain its freshness and taste. HDPE plastic is the only plastic considered safe for food packing purposes.

Organic coconut oil is produced without harmful pesticides or genetically modified organisms. PINK SUN Extra Virgin Coconut Oil has been certified organic by the Soil Association and is non GM. With a melting point of 18-24 degrees you will find organic coconut oil remains in its solid state for most of the year in the UK. Keep out of direct sunlight as UV rays may spoil the pure extra virgin coconut oil.

Why is extra virgin coconut oil so good for you?

Extra virgin coconut oil is high in medium chain fatty acids, which are a healthy compliment to your diet and lifestyle. PINK SUN Organic Coconut Oil is rich in Lauric acid which is converted into monolaurin in the body. Monolaurin is a monoglyceride which is known for antimicrobial, antiviral, antiprotozoal and antifungal properties. Monolaurin works by disturbing the lipid membrane in organisms such as fungus, bacteria and viruses, to eventually destroy the organisms.

Unlike other saturated fats extracted from animal tallow the medium chain triglycerides found in extra virgin coconut oil are absorbed more readily into the body and used in the liver to generate energy. The medium chain triglycerides are nutritious and can aid with other food absorption in addition to supporting body functions whereas long chain fatty acids found in many other oils are more prone to body fat production and arterial plaguing.

The hydrogenation of many vegetable oils generates trans fatty acids which are a known cause of increased heart disease. Unlike hydrogenation manufacturing at high temperatures extra virgin coconut oil is cold pressed producing a pure extra virgin coconut oil that contains no trans fatty acids.

So with both its anti micro-organism properties and healthy fat attributes PINK SUN Certified Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is a great addition to your nutritional intake.

My Thoughts

I started using this wonderful affordable oil around twelve months ago or so after searching online for an extra virgin organic oil. Firstly, I love how the product comes in a jar, no particular reason I just really like this, Just unscrew the lid and get those fingers in!! I scoop out what I need and slather it all over my body after my shower, If you like the scent of coconut this is divine. A true fresh coconut smell. The oil sets firm in cooler temperatures so I use the backs of my nail to dig some out of the jar, at this time of year though it’s perfect for scooping some out with ease as it’s a much softer consistency, it can become quite liquid in really warm conditions but always sets again on cooling. I Love to use this on my daughter too on dry areas she has. Other uses I have are a moisture surge for my face and I’ll smooth the excess through my hair at bedtime for an overnight treat for my hair. The oil can feel a little grainy on application but keep rubbing and the grains soon melt into your skin.

This is an edible oil too so it’s great for cooking with, I haven’t actually used it for cooking, I would purchase another jar specifically for cooking though as my fingers have been dipped into this one too many times! (clean post-shower fingers of course)!

I’ve been using this oil as my go-to body moisturiser as I said for at least twelve months now, I like to really rub it in, especially the tops of my legs, Summer is coming and it will soon be time to get those legs out! I read that Victoria Beckham uses coconut oil, hey if it’s good enough for her and all that!

I am really pleased to know about the use of coconut for skin and hair as well but what I personally feel is, if the coconut oil is used before sleep at night it bring more nourishment to your skin and won’t cause any problem.

Thanks for reading! Yes applying product at bed time is always a good idea! I prefer to apply this oil to my skin after I shower personally, I’d be slipping around the bedsheets otherwise! 💕 it’s a fab oil though x
