Hello Blush, by New Look. Just £8.99 for a 50ml bottle.
Described as a delicately fresh, oriental fragrance with a heart of Jasmine and Rose. Combined with a blend of patchouli and vetiver to create a scent that embodies the ultimate expression of femininity. A light citrusy, sophisticated fragrance for a sexy, captivating woman.
Fragrance descriptions tend to be a little “over the top” don’t they? Anyway, the main thing I enjoy about this perfume (and the reason I keep repurchasing it), is that it smells EXACTLY like the iconic Chanel Coco Mademoiselle – which just happens to be my signature scent. Whenever someone wafts past me wearing it, I get that warm fuzzy feeling – instantly recognisable, it’s that luxurious, unmistakable fragrance we all recognise.
With the likeness being so striking, I decided to compare the ingredients of both Blush and Coco Mademoiselle and here’s what I found…
- Both fragrances contain middle and base notes of jasmine, rose, vetiver and patchouli. Thus explaining their similarity – Is this even allowed?
- Surprisingly, (given the meagre price) to align with Coco Mademoiselle, Blush is also an Eau de Parfum which means it contains a higher concentration of perfume oils than say an Eau de Toilette, allowing for that all-important staying power.
I like to think that Blush by New Look is the little sister of Coco…
Looking at the bottles, the original design is not dissimilar to the afore-mentioned Chanel, just a smaller, chunkier version with a spray nozzle. The colour is a subtle, blush pink, again think Chanel. Its similarity is clearly the USP (unique selling point) for Blush which explains why more often than not it’s out of stock, both in store and online. You must keep trying though, it’s definitely worth waiting for.
Around mid-December I popped into my local New Look to purchase a bottle for my daughter’s Christmas stocking as Blush is her favourite scent too. I was very pleased to not only find it in stock but also in a new larger sized 100ml bottle available for £12.99. The usual 50ml sized was sitting right next to it on the shelf for just £8.99. After being drawn in by the three for two offer which was running in store at the time I picked up a Blush Body Mist as well £4.99 Perfect for the handbag or topping up on the go!
In 2018 The bottles were redesigned and have now lost their similarity to “big sister” Coco, but I’m all for a freshen up and quite like the new design. although, I’d say it’s a little less chic-looking.
