Never Mind The Hoovering – The Dyson Hair Dryer Has Landed

Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer review The Beauty Spyglass

Who would have thought it? Dyson, better known for household hoovers has launched a hairdryer. Not just any old hairdryer either, it’s the all-new supersonic, no less!

The Dyson Supersonic hairdryer is a considered purchase at a costly £299 a pop but, take it from me, it’s worth every penny.

The Dyson dryer comes beautifully presented in its hard box, surrounded by accessories and a diffuser. I mean, for the best part of £300 one might expect more than you’d get with your average hairdryer. Read on to find out what else is included…

What’s in the box?

Smoothing Nozzle

Dry and style your hair at the same time with gentle, low-velocity airflow.

Styling Concentrator

Style your hair one section at a time with precise, controlled airflow. You don’t have to worry about disturbing the rest.

Diffuser

Disperse air evenly around each of your ringlets. Simulates natural drying, helping to reduce frizz for improved definition.

Magnetic Attachments

Only the Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer comes with rotating magnetic attachments. So you can quickly click them on and off during styling.

What makes it special?

3 precise speed settings

Fast drying
Regular drying
Styling

4 precise heat settings

100°C fast drying and styling
80°C regular drying
60°C gentle drying
28°C constant cold

Cold shot

28°C cold shot, to set your hair after styling.

The Dyson digital motor V9

Uniquely positioned in the handle, it spins on average six times faster than other hair dryer motors at one inaudible frequency – yet is a third of the weight.

Air Multiplier™ technology

Airflow is amplified to produce a controlled, high-velocity jet of air for fast drying.

My first impression was “it’s very space-age” and I love the bright fuchsia contrasting with the grey, and a hole you can see right through! (Other colours available from QVC) One thing which is frustrating with some hair styling tools is that the lead isn’t quite long enough. Dyson Supersonic’s is a really good length which is a plus if you don’t happen to have a plug point right by your mirror.

Three Easy adjustable heat settings and speeds, plus a handy cool shot button, It also comes with a diffuser and two magnetic smoothing nozzles to pop on and off easily. They remain cool-ish during use which means no burnt fingers when removing or changing between the two.

The dryer is quite lightweight, however, Dyson claimsWhile other hair dryers can be top-heavy, the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer is engineered with the motor in the handle. Shifting its centre of gravity to feel balanced in the hand”  I must admit, it take a little while to adapt to this new style but there’s no going back now! One other thing to mention is the filter is really easy to clean, simply twist the base of the handle and the grill drops down, then rub your thumb over the filter to clean off any dust etc and replace. It couldn’t be easier!

The dryer itself is powerful and dries my hair a little quicker than my regular dryer. I haven’t noticed it being any quieter as such, possibly a little. The dryer emits negative ions which ensure the hair remains in its best condition throughout the drying process. Air flow travelling at 105mph for fast drying and a focused jet of air for precise, simultaneous drying and styling.

The Dyson Supersonic has an onboard computer which measures air temperature twenty times a second; preventing extreme heat damage and protecting natural shine.
